Bill's Burgers

Our last day in the Big Apple was a hungry affair.

After a morning spent wandering down Madison Avenue in the searing heat, we chose to satisfy our rumbling bellies with some juicy burgers at Bill's.

Mum had come across their website the night before and the menu seemed to fit the Bill.

The restaurant was busy and bustling with plenty of room.

There was even a seat for my new friend...

It's no secret that I love milkshakes an awful lot.

In particular ice cold milkshakes that come topped with lashings of whipped cream and extras in a metal container.

I think that this chocolate brownie option fulfils that criteria.

The only problem is that it's difficult not to drink the entire thing and fill yourself up before your food has even arrived.

Chez chose an Oreo shake and there was more than enough for mum to have some too.

Now for the main event...

'Classic Americans' all round.

The bun was soft and the meat was juicy and delicious, although my tomato was swiftly discarded.

I have no complaints. It was a seriously good burger.

We ordered two sides of fries between us but we could have done with just one- the portions were huge! Although I'm not complaining, you can't go wrong with a basket of good, crispy fries.

Despite being full to the brim with savoury goodness, we couldn't resist going back to Magnolia Bakery to pick up some more peanut butter cookies for the plane home.

I think I may need to buy a copy of their cookbook and recreate the cookies at home. Unless anyone's offering to take me back to the States. Please?

I had never been to New York with my family (we'd all been on separate occasions) but it was lovely to hear my mum's stories of when she used to travel there with my dad.

Apparently they used to stay here...

 Not too shabby!

We then had to battle our way across Avenue of the Americas which had been transformed into a full-blown carnival for Brazil day.

Everyone looked like they were having an amazing time but I wouldn't have been able to hack it in the humidity.

Before we knew it, it was time to load ourselves into a cab and head to JFK.

I had the most incredible trip and I would love to go back again. I'm incredibly lucky to have had such an amazing experience (thank you dad!) and would recommend it to anyone who gets the chance.

Until next time, New York!
