Sette, Paris

Sometimes only pizza will do.

And when you can get pizza and change from a 10 euro note? Even better.

Especially when the wine is equally purse-friendly.

Paris obviously isn't famed for its pizza, but I wasn't going to wait until my move to Italy to enjoy one of my favourites.

This is where Sette comes in.

A tiny pizzeria in the 10th with a big menu and an even bigger queue outside. But don't worry, most of that is for takeaway.

One particularly hungry Thursday evening, we headed over there to see what the fuss was about.

We grabbed a table for three and got stuck in, kicking things off with a bottle of house white.

(I'm not going to pretend that I know anything about wine. But we're thirsty students and this was cold and cheap, so no complaints here.)

After much deliberation and a short wait, three plates were whisked onto our table.

La Sicilienne: olives, capers, anchovies and basil (no cheese.)

La Ricaine: tomato, BBQ sauce, mozzarella, chicken and peppers.

And my personal favourite, La Norma: roasted aubergine, ricotta, pancetta and mozzarella, sprinkled with shards of parmesan.

Not for the lacto-conscious, but absolutely delicious.

You can't have a good pizza without a great crust, and I definitely wasn't let down here.

The dough is peppered with semolina, so it's a great balance of crunchy on the outside and soft in the centre.

We left feeling particularly pleased with ourselves, if not a little full.

If you're looking for a cheap and cheerful dinner, Sette is a great option.

Like I said, the restaurant is tiny so don't bother going in a big group- you'd be better off ordering from Deliveroo and eating it at home.

And to be honest, this may be a better option in general as our conversation was drained out by the addition of heavy techno that blared from the speakers- a bit of a bizarre accompaniment to a midweek dinner.

But if I were just to look at it from a food perspective, I'm a big fan.

I've been twice since and can vouch for La Dulcaine (mozzarella, goat's cheese and honey- a sweet and savoury lover's dream) and La Parma-Roquette (parma ham and rocket). So if you're looking for comfort food, look no further.

Open everyday, 12-3pm and 7-11pm. Website here and Deliveroo here.
